I was commissioned to stylize a photograph for the company’s newest t-shirt design. Using the original photo as a reference, I painted a version that preserved the essence of the photo while enhancing its sense of whimsy. I overlaid grain on the image to satisfy the company’s desire for a vintage aesthetic.

The first experimental draft. I changed the figure position to something more ethereal and added constellations to the sky.
The client decided to go for a more realistic design so the next draft was reined in to match the reference photo more precisely.
The final draft had a grain effect and a desaturated reddish hue overlaid to create a vintage feeling to the art.
